Short version: Audioborb doesn't collect any data about you. It has no
accounts, ads, analytics, crash reporting or tracking. It talks to the Audiobookshelf server
you add, and to the few things that server leads it to, described below.
What the app stores on your device
- The server addresses you add.
- Your sign-in tokens, kept in the iOS Keychain (Android Keystore on Android).
- A local copy of your library, shelf, listening progress, bookmarks and settings, so the
app works offline.
- Audiobooks you choose to download. On iOS these are excluded from iCloud backups.
Signing out revokes your session on the server and removes the tokens. Deleting the app removes
everything else; sign out first if you also want the tokens gone, since iOS can keep Keychain
items after an app is deleted.
What the app sends, and where
Audioborb connects only to the server addresses you enter. It sends that server your sign-in
details, listening progress and sessions, bookmarks, shelf changes, plus a random ID for this
install, the app version and the platform (iOS or Android), which the server shows in its
session list. Your server is run by you or by whoever invited
you, and their own privacy practices apply to it.
Audioborb can also connect to:
- Services your server links to. If your server's sign-in message links to a
companion service made for Audiobookshelf, Audioborb checks that link. If the service is
compatible, Audioborb uses it with your server sign-in and sends it only what you use it
for, such as searches.
- Image sites. Some pictures, such as covers in search results, load directly
from the site that hosts them (for example Audible, Google Books, Open Library or Apple). That
site sees an ordinary image request from your device.
Nothing is sent to the developer of Audioborb, and nothing is used for advertising or
tracking.
Permissions and sensors
- Local network (iOS): to reach a server on your home network.
- Motion sensor: shake to extend the sleep timer. Read only while a timer is
running, and never stored or sent anywhere.
- Photos: only when someone allowed to edit the library picks a photo as a
book's cover. That one photo is uploaded to your server.
Children
Audioborb doesn't knowingly collect information from anyone, including children under 13.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new effective date.
